If you’re tired of paying a big cable bill each month, you may find that cutting the cord and subscribing to fuboTV is a great money-saving solution in 2022.
This live TV streaming service is one of a handful of options for people looking to leave the cable company behind for good. Many people have heard of popular services like Sling TV and YouTube TV, but you may not know that fuboTV also has a menu of the top cable channels and sports networks for a similar price.
In this article, I’ll walk you through everything you need to know about fuboTV’s live television subscription service.
What Is fuboTV? Team Clark Reviews the Live TV Streaming Service

For a starting price of $65 per month, a fuboTV subscription provides access to more than 90 popular broadcast and cable channels. There is no contract or cable box required. You can stream content live or on-demand from your television, phone, tablet or computer.
You may see that $65 monthly price and think to yourself, “That’s the same price as YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV. What makes fuboTV worth skipping those options?”
I’ll get into answering that question with this article, but what I can tell you right away is that fuboTV’s “Starter” package offers a large helping of sports content that may attract the sports nuts in your household. But fuboTV is not one-dimensional. It provides access to many popular non-sports channels as well.
And for those who want even more, fuboTV has “Pro” and “Elite” tier subscriptions that give you additional channels for $70-$80 per month.
Team Clark has tested fuboTV and the other major live TV streaming services. Read on to learn what you need to know before you sign up!
Table of Contents:
1. What Channels Do You Get With fuboTV?
If you’re considering a fuboTV subscription, you’re going to have three base channel packages from which to choose.
- fuboTV – Starter
- fuboTV – Pro
- fuboTV – Elite
fuboTV prides itself on offering a large menu of sports channels, so you’ll find all of the professional sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL) and college sports leagues (SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12) represented by their networks as well as the ESPN and FS1 families of channels.
The Starter package, at $65 per month, offers popular channels including Disney Channel, Fox News, MSNBC and USA in addition to many of the sports channels I mentioned above.
In 2021, fuboTV began offering a Pro package for as low as $70 per month. This includes many of the same channels as the Starter package but has a few upgrades on things like cloud DVR storage and simultaneous streams.
Upgrading to the Elite package, which costs $80 per month, will unlock more sports networks such as ESPNews, ESPNU and MLB Network.
The one sports blindspot you may find is regional sports networks. Contract issues with providers will leave some fans unable to watch their local team on this service.
fuboTV offers access to local ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX affiliates with either package, but you’ll want to verify that all four are available in your viewing area. If they aren’t, you could use these alternative methods to access local channels.
To see if local channels and regional sports networks are available where you live, check your ZIP code on fuboTV’s website.
fubo TV also features the Latino Quarterly package, which is a standalone subscription at $33 per month that includes more than 30 Spanish language channels and 250 cloud DVR hours to go along with it.
Below is a comparison of the Starter, Pro and Elite channel packages. If you want to compare fuboTV’s channel lineup to other streaming TV services, see our side-by-side chart or use our live TV streaming channel tool.

- Latino Plus
- RAI Italia

Premium Channels and Services
In addition to add-on channel packages, fuboTV also offers premium subscription services.
For example, you can pay $11 per month for a Showtime subscription as a part of your monthly fuboTV bill. That content would be available to stream on your fuboTV app alongside the content from your base subscription.
Here’s a sampling of the premium channels or services that are available through fuboTV:
- Showtime
- STARZ
- EPIX
- AMC Premiere
2. Does fuboTV Include Cloud DVR?
fuboTV offers cloud DVR functionality as a part of its perks for the Starter, Pro and Elite packages.
A cloud-based DVR allows users to record any live programs and watch them at a later time. This means you’ll be able to record all your favorite TV shows, movies or sporting events and then watch them at your leisure.
The Starter channel package comes with 250 hours of cloud DVR storage space. For an additional fee, you can boost this storage to 1000 hours.
But before you pay up for that add-on, you may want to consider upping your subscription level from Starter to either Pro or Elite. Both channel package comes with 1000 hours of cloud DVR storage included. That’s going to give you access to additional channels for a slightly lower price increase than the DVR upgrade alone.
You can fast forward through your DVR content with fuboTV without commercial interruption. That’s a big plus.
Here’s how the fuboTV cloud DVR offerings compare to several of its top competitors:
FuboTV – Elite | FuboTV – Pro | FuboTV – Starter | Hulu + Live TV | Sling Orange + Blue | YouTube TV | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cloud DVR Hours | 1000 | 1000 | 250 | 50 | 50 | Unlimited |
3. How Do You Stream fuboTV?
One of the biggest perks of cutting the cord and opting into a service like fuboTV is the variety of ways in which you can enjoy the content.
Not only can you move seamlessly from device to device, but you can also take your recorded content with you thanks to the portability of the cloud DVR.
You can stream fuboTV on your smartphone, tablet, computer or your TV. All you need is high-speed internet access to enjoy.
If you’re planning to watch on your television, you’ll either need a smart TV that has compatibility with fuboTV or a streaming device like a Roku or Amazon Fire TV stick.
Here’s a list of compatible devices according to fuboTV’s website:
- Android smartphones and tablets
- Apple smartphones and tablets (iPhone, iPad, etc.)
- Amazon Fire TV
- Android TV
- Android Smart TVs
- Apple TV
- Chromecast with Google TV
- Roku
- Samsung Smart TVs
- Xbox gaming devices
4. Can a Family Share fuboTV?
Another big concern for cord cutters is ensuring that the entire household is able to enjoy watching television the same way that they have with cable.
fuboTV shines in this area as well — without charging you for a box to use on each TV.
If you subscribe to the Starter package, each household can watch up to three streams simultaneously. Upgrading to the Pro or Elite package will unlock unlimited simultaneous streams (with up to 10 simultaneous streams at home).
And there are six accounts included with a fuboTV membership. So everyone in the household can get their own unique cloud DVR storage spaces and personal settings for consumption.
These numbers are very good when compared to some of fuboTV’s top competitors.
FuboTV – Elite | FuboTV – Pro | FuboTV – Starter | Hulu + Live TV | Sling Orange + Blue | YouTube TV | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Simultaneous Streams | 10 | 10 | 3 | 2 | 4 | 3 |

Pros and Cons for fuboTV
Pros | Cons |
One of the most robust collections of sports channels available on the live TV streaming market | Turner networks (CNN, TBS, TNT) are no longer available. |
Good mix of live news and entertainment networks | Some local channels and regional sports networks may not be available. |
User profiles and multiple streams are among the best in the category. | Pricing puts it at the higher end of the live TV streaming market. |
A few years ago, fuboTV may have been seen as a niche live TV streaming service that catered to sports fans.
But it’s clear that fuboTV has worked to put its channel menu and functionality on par with the live TV streaming leaders like YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV.
The combination of its sports-oriented content and well-rounded additions creates an attractive YouTube TV alternative for some sports fans.
This service is not for everyone, though. If you’re not worried about access to live sports, value live TV streaming services such as Sling TV (as low as $35 per month) and Philo ($25 per month) offer a cheaper option for your wallet.
Before you sign up, review fuboTV’s channel lineup and compare it to YouTube TV, Hulu Live and Sling TV.
